GI TAV Diploma and Master Thesis Award in Software Testing 2011

The purpose of this award is to recognize the diploma thesis or master thesis completed in 2011 which best enhances the state of the art in software testing and software quality assurance.

Prize:

  • The diploma and master thesis award by the Gesellschaft für Informatik’s Test,
    Analysis and Verification of Software (GI TAV) Group recognizes contributions of non-graduates with impact on the testing community in order to promote research in this field
  • The winner will be invited to present his work at the GI TAV meeting in 2012
  • The award comes with a 1,000.00 € first prize sponsored by Berner & Mattner Systemtechnik GmbH and Giesecke & Devrient GmbH. The 500 € second prize is sponsored by Siemens AG
  • The prize will be handed over to the winner at the Testing Expo 2012

Criteria:

Each submitted diploma or master thesis (English or German) will be evaluated based on its

  • relevance to the field of testing and quality assurance
  • feasibility in industrial practice
  • degree of innovation
  • potential impact on present and future quality assurance activities and
  • quality of presentation

Submission:

The diploma or master thesis must have been completed (successfully defended) in 2011. In order to have a diploma or master thesis considered for the Diploma and Master Thesis Award in Software Testing 2011, graduating students or their advisors must submit

  • an electronic copy of the full thesis
  • a recommendation letter of the thesis advisor indicating the contribution of the research, why it deserves the award, and how it meets the criteria listed above
  • a confirmation that the thesis is original work of the author

Evaluation Process:

The evaluation of the submitted diploma and master theses will be performed by reviewers of the GI TAV and the sponsors by May 30th, 2012.
