The 2009 Bavaria’s Best 50 Award

Berner & Mattner wins Award for Sustainable Company Growth

July 3, 2009 - Berner & Mattner Systemtechnik has been named one of Bavaria’s Best 50 for 2009. Medium-sized companies are eligible for this award if they have been growing at a higher than average rate both in number of employees and revenues according to the Birch index for the past five years. The Ernst & Young Professional Services organization conducted the selection procedure for 2009. The Bavaria’s Best 50 Award also recognizes the winning companies’ commitment in promoting the social market economy as a whole.

Berner & Mattner Systemtechnik received the award in the year of its 30th anniversary. The award is founded on the company’s high spirit of innovation and strong employee dedication, which, for 30 years now, have enabled it to deliver services to and act as a significant development partner for leading global organizations in the technologically forward-striding aerospace, military, railway, and automotive industries. This laid the base for Berner & Mattner to grow by more than 30% in 2008 in terms of workforce and revenue and to create valuable new jobs in the process.

This year, the Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology, Martin Zeil, has presented the award. “The aim of the Bavaria’s Best 50 award is to recognize this positive role of the entrepreneur and create public awareness for it. The accolade honors medium-sized companies that have proven to be especially fast-growing and have achieved more than average increases in staff size and revenue in recent years. In economically difficult times in particular, achievements like these assume an important role encouraging and motivating medium-sized companies and startups in these parts and can reassure them in their effort to face today’s challenges actively.”

“We understand the award as an important recognition of our company mission and business strategy and are delighted to see them rewarded with a place among Bavaria’s Best 50,” Berner & Mattner’s managing director and founder Hans Berner states. “The company’s employees can take credit for this award and it gives us fresh impetus to support our customers by providing them with innovative and cost-effective solutions in the present adverse economic environment.”

The criteria used for selecting Bavaria’s Best 50 include the following, among others: The enterprise, of which the proprietor owns a certain minimum percentage of shares, has to be owner managed and seated in Bavaria. The company should have been in existence from 31st December 2003 at least and should have had at least 50 employees at the end of 2008 and not more than 5000 in 2004. A strong and profitable growth in revenue and workforce from 2004 to 2008 as well as a pronounced revenue and workforce increase between 2007 and 2008 are further criteria. Furthermore, plans for 2009 should promise continuing positive business development and revenue growth and job creation should have been mainly a result of organic growth.
