May 11, 2010 – On July 4, 2010, Dr. Ignasi Forcada and Adi Strauss, Senior Consultant Space and System Engineer Space at Berner & Mattner Systemtechnik GmbH, give a lecture on the benefits of and requirements for space-based communication by means of heterogeneous networked satellite systems at the international conference DASIA (Data Systems In Aerospace): The English presentation ”Spaceborne Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks“ makes an argument for promoting these SbMANETs in order to further improve global communication structures. Their system-immanent ability of configuring themselves – without any set-up infrastructure or central administration – provides enormous innovative potential. Further benefits of the MANETs as a network of distributed systems are their ability to seamlessly integrate satellites of various capabilities, to self-sufficiently react to altered node geometry and to establish dynamic routing. This might bridge an existing gap in the network of classical satellites with ground-based mobile nodes and open up numerous applications including commercial utilization.
The conference takes place at the InterContinental Hotel Budapest from June 1 to June 4, 2010. It is hosted by Eurospace in coordination with the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), the Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES), the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT).
